It is always a blessing to be able to find and worship at a Wesley Methodist Church whenever I'm away from my hometown and this time I found Wesley Methodist Church Penang with its Western era heritage building architecture leaving a more solemn feeling while worshipping there on a Sunday service. We attended a 9 AM English service just to find out there is another English service at 11 AM, thus the need to add the timetable to the service on Sundays for WMC Penang for those visiting this church from other places: 09.00 English (Liturgical or Traditional) Service 11.00 English (Contemporary) Service 11.00 Hokkian (One of the Chinese Dialects) Service

Attended their Liturgical service on Sunday at 9.00 am during my recent trip to Penang. The main sanctuary is located in a colonial-era church that has been well-preserved and maintained despite it being over a century old. Ample parking lots are available within their large compound surrounded by lush greenery, so there is no need to spend time looking for parking. I truly enjoyed their Liturgical service and found it to be very spiritually refreshing. The ushers who greeted me were friendly and invited me to stay for coffee after service had ended. The pastor-in-charge, Rev. Andrew Lim is a wonderful, friendly and spiritually gifted preacher, who teaches biblical truths based on the Bible, together with the sharing of his personal life experiences and humour to help get his message through to the congregation. For those who are looking for a warm and friendly church where the Word of God is faithfully preached, Wesley Methodist Jalan Burma church certainly fits the bill. Looking forward to attend their services whenever I visit Penang in the future.

Shameful. My mother died last night and being raised Methodist I came here to pray for her just before 2pm on a Thursday. Unlike any normal church on a weekday afternoon, locked tight and howling dog tied up outside. Checked Google for the opening hours; they’re supposed to open at 2. Sat on the bench in front of the office to wait, crying. Someone came out to see why the dog was barking, asked why I was there, told her my mother just died, I’m Methodist and was hoping to pray in the church when it opened (while crying). She asked me if I was WESLEYAN Methodist, which country I’m from (I’m a patrician NYer tyvm)and told me they only open on Sundays for service and to calm down. Didn’t even offer a tissue. My great-great and great grandparents were Methodist missionaries in Canton in the same era this church was built and would have NEVER treated people this way.

Have attended this church on our visits to Georgetown. We love the ambiance and the welcoming congregation members.
