When I looked at the menu, I was shocked by how expensive it was compared to other good Japanese restaurants in town. But I felt it would be rude to leave after already sitting down, so I ordered a few dishes to try. Unfortunately, it turned out to be very disappointing — both the taste and the portion sizes. The food wasn’t terrible, but it was very average. The portions were also extremely small, even for a petite woman. At these prices, customers would expect something impressive. You can find many better Japanese restaurants in town at much cheaper prices. To be honest, I’m surprised this business has managed to continue operating for so many years, especially with so many better competing Japanese restaurants opening in town.

Authentic Japanese cuisine, meticulously prepared by a dedicated team who clearly love their craft. This long-standing gem has been around for decades, and it shows in the consistency and care in every dish. Still my number one Japanese restaurant in Sarawak — nothing else quite compares.

A local friend introduced me this place. They’ve been coming here since early 2000. Here is my verdict: - A very nice Japanese resto. - The chef and owner imported the fish from Japan so the taste of the sashimi is beyond imagination, freshest taste that you can get in Kuching. - love their menu, you get all what you need - the interior is very Japanese vibe like one of the sushi shop in Japan - friendly staff 👍 Definitely would love to come back here again.

An unexpected slice of the late Showa era in southerly Kuching, serving up authentic Japanese cuisine at a reasonable price, with very warm service, in an old-fashioned, carpeted space reminiscent of several of my favourite family-run restaurants in Japan itself. Lunchtime on a weekday isn't all that busy, to the point where the whirs of the radio and kitchen may perhaps be the most prevalent sounds accompanying one's dining. Always a go-to of mine for Japanese food in this city.

Still one of my favourite spot for Japanese food in Kuching. Food tasted great but the portion can be a little bit small these days. Nonetheless, it’s still serving one of the best quality sashimi I can find in Kuching. Parking can be a little hard to find when it’s during peak meal time.

Dined at Minoru Japanese Restaurant,where the owner personally cooks and in charge in the kitchen.Highlight of the meal was undoubtedly my favourite fresh salmon.Overall I was thoroughly impressed with the quality of the food and highly recommended for anyone seeking authentic Japanese cuisine with a personal touch.

Was pretty shocked with the prices on the menu. Maybe this place was trapped like a time capsule having no idea of the outside world and business competition. Food was probably authentic Japanese but too bland for my Malaysian tongue. Biggest bummer was the use of non-Japonica rice for my Gyudon. My partner was pretty happy with her Udon though. This place is a historical institution but hope they survive and open to consider a little innovation and market survey.
